What are the measurement methods of the laser rangefinder?

2022.03.14

1. Phase laser ranging

Use the frequency of the radio band to modulate the amplitude of the laser beam, and measure the phase delay generated by the modulation light going back and forth to the measuring line once, and then convert the distance represented by this phase delay according to the wavelength of the modulated light. That is, the time required for the light to travel back and forth through the survey line is measured by an indirect method.

2. Pulsed laser ranging

This method uses the characteristics of very short duration of laser pulses, relatively concentrated energy in time, and large instantaneous power for ranging.

3. Triangulation laser ranging

The measurement method of the laser displacement sensor is called the laser triangulation method. The accuracy of the laser rangefinder is certain. The same rangefinder has the same accuracy for measuring 10 meters and 100 meters. The measurement accuracy of the laser triangulation method is related to the range. The larger the range, the lower the accuracy.

4. Laser echo method

The laser displacement sensor uses the principle of echo analysis to measure the distance and can achieve a certain degree of accuracy. The laser displacement sensor transmits one million pulses per second through the laser transmitter to the detection object and returns to the receiver. The processor calculates that the laser pulse encounters detection. The time it takes for the object to return to the receiver, the distance value is calculated, and the output value is the average output of thousands of measurements.

3. What types of laser rangefinders are there?

As a measuring instrument, there are many types of laser rangefinders, which can be roughly divided into the following categories:

1. Handheld laser rangefinder

The measurement distance is generally within 200 meters, and the accuracy is about 2mm. This is a laser rangefinder that is widely used at present. In addition to measuring the distance, it can generally calculate the volume of the measured object.

2. Cloud service laser rangefinder

The measurement data on the laser rangefinder is transmitted to mobile terminals such as mobile phones and tablet computers in real time through Bluetooth; the data can be transmitted to the cloud server through wifi networking, and the measurement data can be shared with remote construction partners in real time.

3. Telescopic laser rangefinder

The measurement distance is relatively long. The general measurement range is about 3.5 meters to 2000 meters. There are also ranging telescopes with a maximum range of about 10 kilometers. Due to the collimation requirements of the ranging telescopes, the blind area is below 3.5 meters, and the laser is larger than 2000 meters. The telescope generally uses YAG laser with a wavelength of 1.064 microns. In order to achieve a large measurement range, the laser power is relatively large. It is recommended that users pay attention to laser protection. The main application range is outdoor medium and long distance measurement.

In addition, it can also be divided into one-dimensional laser rangefinder: used for distance measurement and positioning; two-dimensional laser rangefinder: used for contour measurement, positioning, area monitoring and other fields; three-dimensional laser rangefinder: used for Three-dimensional contour measurement, three-dimensional space positioning and other fields.
